Janet McDonald, CCUE, CUDE is the senior sales market manager in the credit union system relations area of CUNA Mutual Group.  Working with associations, leagues and credit unions, she establishes, strengthens and maintains relationships with credit union trade organizations across the U.S. McDonald develops and implements marketing strategies that promote the company’s competitive financial services to the credit union industry.

Prior to joining CUNA Mutual Group in January 2001, McDonald was senior vice president, chief administrative officer and CUSO general manager at Purdue Employees Federal Credit Union in West Lafayette, Indiana, from August 1990 to January 2001.  McDonald began her credit union career in 1986 with Houston Police Federal Credit Union in Houston, Texas, where she was executive vice president. Prior to that, she was a top-producing mortgage loan officer with Savings of America in Houston.

McDonald received the Certified Credit Union Executive (CCUE) designation with honors in 2009 and her Credit Union Development Educator (CUDE) designation in 2012. Her educational background includes completion of the Executive Development Program at the Stanford University Graduate School of Business in 1997. She attended Texas Tech University in her hometown of Lubbock, Texas and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with an emphasis on Marketing Management from Western Governors University.

McDonald presents for a number of leagues and associations and she is co-founder and past chairman of the CUNA Human Resources and Organizational Development Council. She facilitates the CRASH program at the Indiana Credit Union League annual convention. She also received the AACUC Chairman’s Award in 2017 McDonald and her husband of 34 years recently restored their 1901 Victorian home and moved to Fairfield Glade, TN in October 2017 after 27 years in Frankfort, IN. She is primary care-giver of her amazing 91-year-old mother and loves her 2 cats, Peanut and Grace. Janet enjoys serving as Worship Leader at her church and volunteering in the community. 

Michelle Outlaw joined First Legacy Community Credit Union as President / Chief Executive Officer effective February 1, 2016.  Prior to joining FLCCU, Michelle transitioned from Bank of the Ozarks (formally Bank of the Carolinas) serving as Sr. Compliance Officer and Loan Review Officer. Her banking career included working in the areas of consumer, small business banker and commercial lending. Her credit union experience has consisted of serving as a consumer lender and accountant. She has spent her entire career in the financial services industry focusing on areas of credit, finance and risk management.Michelle Outlaw is a 1989 North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, Greensboro, NC graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a 2006 Keller Graduate School of Management graduate with a Master of Accounting and Financial Management, Charlotte, NC.

 


Maurice Smith is the CEO of Local Government Federal Credit Union. LGFCU is a financial cooperative serving the financial needs of employees, appointed officials, elected officeholders and volunteers of local governments in North Carolina.  Smith also serves as Chairman of the Board for CUNA and is an AACUC Board Member.

Smith began his career in financial services as a loan officer for State Employees’ Credit Union. Smith served in several capacities including vice president/city executive and vice president  of  marketing and training. Smith joined LGFCU in 1992 as the Executive Vice  President, was promoted to President in 1999, and named Chief Executive Officer in 2017.

Smith received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University  of  North  Carolina  at  Wilmington  and earned a Juris Doctorate from the North Carolina Central University School of Law. Smith is licensed to practice law in North Carolina, the United States Supreme Court and the District of Columbia. He is also a North Carolina Certified Superior Court Mediator.
