Here's to New Adventures!

Congratulations to Hazelmae Overturf for joining Kaua'i Federal Credit Union as Program Director, where she brings her vast experiences and enthusiastic learning mindset.

Hazelmae has spent her nearly 13-year career at BECU, the largest credit union in Washington state (3rd largest in the nation). From starting in the call center and branches to leading the enterprise-wide Learning and Development team.

Prior to her credit union career, Hazelmae taught English in South Korea, after completing her undergraduate degree in Sociology at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA. While working full-time and during the pandemic, Hazelmae also earned her Executive MBA from Washington State University in December 2020. Her purpose and passion for her work is aligned to continuous learning and making an impact to the communities she serves. In 2019, she earned her Credit Union Development Educator distinction and represented Washington state as a 2020 Governmental Affairs Conference Crasher. Hazelmae is also in her final year of the Filene Research Institute’s i3 program and a proud board member of the West Coast chapter of the African American Credit Union Coalition.

Passionate about bringing up the next generation of credit union professionals, Hazelmae was also a founding co-chair of her former credit union's Young Professional Employee Resource Group. This dedication and service to the credit union movement has led to many accolades, such as being named the 2021 Northwest Credit Union Association's Young Professional Leader of the Year and also the recipient of the 2022 Commitment to Change Young Professionals "Brave" Leadership Award from the AACUC.

For fun, she enjoys escape puzzle rooms, learning new languages, reading, anything Disney, and cooking, especially Filipino food!
